What Is NovoCare Pharmacy?

NovoCare Pharmacy is Novo Nordisk’s dedicated patient support and direct-to-patient delivery program, launched in early 2025 for Wegovy®  and Ozempic®. Instead of picking up your prescription at a local pharmacy, NovoCare ships FDA-approved medication straight to your door through CenterWell Pharmacy and CoAssist Pharmacy (established specialty pharmacy partners).

The program was created to help bridge the gap between high retail prices and patients who need access to weight management medication. NovoCare is run directly by Novo Nordisk and dispenses FDA-approved medication through verified pharmacies and patient support partners.

When you enroll, you’re connected with a dedicated case manager who can assist with insurance questions. Additional services include benefit verification, refill reminders, and free shipping with no extra delivery charges.

NovoCare Pharmacy and Wegovy®: How It Works

Accessing Wegovy® through NovoCare is fairly straightforward. Because prescriptions are processed outside of insurance, prior authorization requirements that may apply through insurance typically don’t apply when paying out of pocket.

If you already have a Wegovy® prescription, your healthcare provider can send it electronically to NovoCare directly from their system. If you don’t have one yet, NovoCare may direct you to independent telehealth services, such as Eden, to determine whether Wegovy® is appropriate for you.

If you’re curious about learning more about how Eden can help connect you with a licensed pharmacy, start with a brief online intake. We’ll then connect you with a licensed healthcare provider to review your goals and health history and determine what’s best for you.

Interestingly, Wegovy® availability has improved significantly since the FDA resolved the semaglutide shortage in early 2025, according to public statements made by Novo Nordisk.

With that said, coverage and cost are still significant barriers for many patients. NovoCare provides eligible patients a way to access Wegovy directly, without relying on insurance coverage.

How to Get Your Wegovy® Prescription Through NovoCare

Once NovoCare receives your prescription, they’ll send you a text within a few days with instructions to set up your account. Payment can be made online via credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or FSA/HSA card. After payment is processed, you can schedule your delivery based on available processing and shipping timelines.

Who Qualifies for NovoCare Pharmacy?

The program is designed for two groups: uninsured patients and those with commercial insurance that doesn’t cover obesity medications. You’ll need a valid Wegovy® prescription for an FDA-approved indication and a prescriber ID number.

Who Is Not Eligible for NovoCare?

Government beneficiaries aren’t eligible for NovoCare Pharmacy, even if they choose to pay out of pocket. This includes anyone enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, Veterans Affairs healthcare, or any similar federal or state program. If you fall into one of these categories, it may be worthwhile to speak with your healthcare provider about alternative savings options.

NovoCare Wegovy® Savings Card and Pricing

For cash-paying patients, NovoCare offers all Wegovy® pen dose strengths at a flat rate of about $349 per month through the NovoCare program, though retail pricing and pharmacy pricing may vary. Free home delivery is also included at no extra cost.

For patients with commercial insurance who qualify for the Wegovy® Savings Offer, copays may be as low as $25 per month. This savings card is a separate program from NovoCare Pharmacy but is available to eligible commercially insured patients.

Is NovoCare Right for You?

Before enrolling, it’s important to ask and answer the following questions:

  • Do you have insurance coverage for obesity medications?
  • Are you enrolled in a federal or state health program?
  • Is $349 per month a manageable cost given your current budget?

If you’re uninsured or your commercial plan doesn’t cover Wegovy®, NovoCare may be an option to discuss with your healthcare provider. As always, a licensed healthcare provider is best positioned to help you determine what makes sense for your health goals and financial situation.

As with any prescription medication, Wegovy® may not be right for everyone. Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach pain, headache, fatigue, and dizziness. A licensed healthcare provider can help you weigh the benefits and risks based on your personal health history.

Accessing Wegovy® With Eden

If you’re exploring your options for weight management medication, Eden can help. Eden connects patients with licensed healthcare providers through a simple online intake process. Once you complete a brief health questionnaire, a licensed provider will review your goals and health history to determine what treatment may be appropriate for you.

For patients who may not qualify for NovoCare or are looking for additional options, Eden’s network of providers can walk you through what’s available and help you make an informed decision.

Final Thoughts

For uninsured patients or those without obesity medication coverage, NovoCare Pharmacy offers a direct-to-patient access way to get Wegovy® at a potentially lower price point.

With that said, however, it’s important to verify your eligibility and weigh the monthly cost against your overall budget. Speaking with a qualified healthcare provider can help you determine what’s best for you.
